An objective neurophysiological technique for determining the hearing threshold and identifying retrocochlear lesions is brainstem evoked response audiometry (BERA). The study's objective was to assess the hearing ability of kids who might have hearing loss or abnormal speech development. An objective method of evoking brain stem potentials in response to click-heavy audiological stimuli is the BERA hearing test. However, it is typically utilized to detect any abnormalities in the brainstem or vestibulocochlear nerve. Infants who are at a high risk for hearing loss and in whom standard audiometry cannot be performed due to their sensitive skin are advised to get the test in particular. Electrodes are used during this test to help record the potentials that are applied to the scalp. BERA is a useful screening technique for assessing hearing loss cases brought on by retrocochlear pathology, such as acoustic schwannoma. If there is an abnormal BERA in these circumstances, an MRI scan might be advised. Other audiological test batteries should be added to the BERA test battery in order to determine the location of the lesion and plan management accordingly.
